What I love about teaching is the opportunity to take my students to a new level of learning math – making it real and meaningful!
I love teaching math at North Shore Middle School. Prior to North Shore, I taught grades seven and eight mathematics in Maryland. I obtained my undergraduate Education degree in 2006 and received my Master of Science in Mathematics Learning and Teaching from Drexel University in 2010. My family grew in 2012 with the birth of my son.
In my classroom students are expected to come to class prepared and ready to dive into great math conversations. Homework is assigned on MOST school nights and small group participation is a must in my class. Students are working with their peers on a daily basis to delve into the following math topics: The Number System, Proportional Reasoning, Expressions & Equations, Probability & Statistics, and Geometry. Students are actively engaged in their learning while I facilitate the conversations and then summarize their understanding to the whole class. Math is no longer a “sit and get” classroom – students are talking, analyzing, justifying, and learning at a much deeper level than ever before!
