What I love about teaching is the moment when a just right book for a reluctant reader becomes a favorite for life. What I love about teaching is when a reluctant writer enthusiastically shares their writing with the class. What I love about teaching are these small moments and more!
It has been my pleasure to have taught in the Hartland Lakeside School District sine 1996. I earned my undergraduate degree from The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, my teaching certification from Cardinal Stritch University, and my Master’s degree from National Louis University. Most of my time here has been spent teaching seventh grade Comm. Arts.
My classroom follows the Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop model. The class typically begins with a short lesson followed by a period of practice with individual or small group instruction. I believe children learn best when they have and environment that provides structure and provides for student choice and input.
Homework is communicated through the online calendar. Students are expected to read 30 minutes each day outside of class and document their reading minutes. Writing homework may be given periodically.
I welcome parents to inquire about their student’s progress and learning. E-mail can be sent to email@example.com.
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your student’s educational journey.
